You may be wondering ‘why a blog’?
About eight months into my new business journey I began thinking about starting a blog. It was one of those thoughts that are really just more of a dream. You know, the ones that pop into your head that you get super excited about but know you aren’t ready for. It wasn’t just a random thought though. I had been seeing clients for about six months or so, and client after client would share their intimate reasons for coming to me. I’d hear personal story after personal story and I wanted to share their stories because I knew some of them wanted to empower other women. And I’m all about women empowering other women. The challenge was I knew I didn’t have the time to devote to blogging right then; I had just recently opened my second studio and hired another artist so there was a lot going on, but I really wanted to share all the reasons why women were choosing to come to me to have their eyebrows microbladed and how it was impacting their lives!!
When I began my certification course for microblading, I desperately wanted to help women suffering hair loss, and I thought those women would come in the form of cancer survivors. You can read more about that here. Once I began actually working in the industry, however, I found out very quickly that there were so many other reasons that had nothing to do with cancer; that lots of women were suffering from hair loss and it wasn’t because of chemo! I really wanted the world to know this. I wanted people to realize that women were feeling insecure and a lack of confidence and that was why many of them were penciling on their eyebrows every day. It wasn’t because they were divas!! Most of them told me how much they absolutely dreaded that task every morning. It was time-consuming AND they confessed they weren’t even that great at it.
As I became more and more aware of the great need women had, I felt even more blessed to be in this place because I realized I had an opportunity to make an even bigger impact than I realized when I started. And helping others is my absolute passion!
But…a blog? How in the world would I be able to make that happen? I didn’t know the first thing about blogging and I already knew what happens when one chomps off a project they know nothing about…enter Tamara getting a website designed, up, and running! (Meme photo) Shew…now that was a task! A very time-consuming task!! And I’m so glad I took on that challenge because learning new things is my jam, but I really didn’t have the time to learn how to get a blog up and running.
What I knew is that I was called to this business. (you can hear all about that here…Anchor Podcast) And I figured if it was a calling and this idea of a blog wouldn’t leave me alone than it must mean something. So I prayed about it. I asked God to help me find a way to share these very important stories. His answer, my faith-filled friend, Charity. The truth is I didn’t have the time to devote to writing and my sweet friend is an excellent writer who knows me well so I thought it would be a perfect match. Besides a lack of time, my other challenge was….I was terrified to show up here! I approached her about it, but the timing for us to work on this project together just wasn’t right. So I waited.
And waited.
And waited.
I waited because I believed she was the answer to a prayer; she was the right person for this project.
I waited because I believed we would make a great team and she knew my voice.
It’s been almost nine months since I approached my dear friend, and I now know it’s time. Time for me to write. So, here I am, showing up. Imperfect, but ready.
I’m so looking forward to this journey with all of you. I’ll be sharing beauty and skincare tips, ways to foster self-care and self-love, topics on healthy eating and wellness and how my faith has led me to live a free, bold, and fulfilled life.
Thanks so much for being here!
